Day 7 - You'll Understand in Heaven

Verse of the Day:
"From the fruit of his words a man is satisfied with good, and the work of man's hand comes back to him." Proverbs 12:14a RSV

In heaven you will see how the Lord has used that testimony, that word of comfort you gave today. God's Word never returns void.

When you enter the beautiful city,
And the saved all around you appear,
What joy when someone will tell you,
"It was you who invited me here."

Lord, we like to see results from our labor, but it is not necessary that we do. We trust you to complete the work you are doing in and through us.

  1. This project is more of a challenge that I had thought. Trusting that God has the process in his control is difficult for someone like me, who is scared to relinquish control. Since the beginning of this project, I have found that the homeless man in Flemington is continually present in my day. Yesterday, in that terrible rain, I was driving Main Street early in the morning on the way to the Post Office. The man was standing under an awning of an unopened business. As I drove by I thought as my gift for the day, I should purchase him a cup of coffee. It was so cold to be out in the rain. So after I did my business at the Post Office I drove back around Main St. to see where he was. He was gone. I drove the entire street looking for him, but he was no where to be found. I guess that was not to be my gift for the day and as the day presented itself there was another gift I was called to give. I still think that I am to do something for this person. I saw him again this afternoon. With the pending snow storm, I wonder where he goes at night, I wonder about his story, I wonder if it is safe to help him, I wonder if I am to help. I guess for now all I can do is pray for him.

My gift today was to make soup for tomorrow's lunch so that our staff does not need to go out if the weather is bad. I made a double batch and froze the second batch in individual containers for Gary's mom. It was a good day.
