Day 13 - Love

Matthew 5:44-45
"But I tell you : Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven..."

Economic times are tough, but even in these times, we are able to give meaningful gifts without breaking the bank. Love comes with no dollar sign. Love can be and should be freely given, but often it has a heavy emotional cost. Today, give the gift of love to someone who you find difficult and maybe even impossible to love. Love them and pray for them in the same way you love and pray for those who are closest to you.

Love is a simple gift but brightens the days of all who feel its warmth and radiance. Today, be mindful of love and give a gift that will warm both the receiver and you as the giver.

  1. Yesterday I gave a gift to an "unintended recipient".

I had an appt with a friend who I felt had let me down. Our relationship the past few months had been strained, at best. I wanted to cancel our meeting, but felt obligated to keep the commitment.

That morning I had decided that I was going to give her the gift of forgiveness. I was remembering Kelsey's posts, and realized that this was an important gift for me to give. During my drive I kept shaping what I thought this forgiveness would look like, what I would say, how I would act. But God kept tugging me to truly forgive, let it go, just go with an open heart. So I did.

On my way home I was recalling what a great day it had been. We had reconnected and I was able to recall what had sparked our friendship in the first place. I was feeling lighter, happier.

The I got it, I was the recipient of the gift. Not the intended person, but the true beneficiary.

So give yourself a gift today, let go of a grudge, forgive a hurt, quit keeping score.

    Thank you Kelsey!
